Assistant Director
LBGT Resource Center
The Michigan State University LBGT Resource Center seeks an energetic, experienced
professional to serve as its Assistant Director. The Assistant Director will support the
Center's focus on inclusive, campus wide education; connectivity of the student experience
with academic, career, international and social justice competencies; and enhance the
quality of Center services. This is a full-time, 12 month, AP 12 position.

The Assistant Director will:
- Lead and collaborate on innovative LBGT educational programs for the university
community, including visiting speakers, seminar programming and the LBGT Safe Zone
training initiative
- Coordinate and facilitate nationally benchmarked student peer education initiatives,
including the LBGT speakers bureau
- Coordinate LBGT student organization advising and leadership development activities
with an aim of integrating academic, career, international and social justice
competencies
- Collaborate on implementation of LBGT international/domestic issues intersections
initiatives
- In partnership with academic units, support the LBGT Leader-Scholar program, an
undergraduate independent study research initiative
- Lead and collaborate on programs targeting personal support and LBGT
research/scholarship opportunities for graduate students
- Assist with liaison/support to LBGT faculty/staff and alumni associations
- Assist with resources and referrals for individual students
- Assist with administration of three student scholarship programs
- Administer publicity and outreach for LBGT programs, including weekly e-newsletter
- Supervise graduate assistant(s), undergraduate office assistants, and interns
- Assist with development of Center policy and procedures
The successful candidate will have the minimum of a Masters Degree in a related field as
well as experience working on issues of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Additionally:
- Minimum 1-3 years of programming and administrative experience in a similar setting,
required
- Demonstrated communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills in a collaborative,
multidisciplinary environment, required
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the delivery of all services
and programs, required
- Demonstrated innovative approaches to student success and campus education, required
- Active participation in national professional associations, preferred
- One to three years of full-time experience post Masters degree, preferred
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The desired starting
